BREAK YOUR SANDVICHES WE GOT A STORY.
Back in 2010 my brother started get getting sick, then getting better, back and forth. The doctors couldn't really figure out what is was. They put him on doxycycleine, got better, got worse, doctors said it was the medication. They diagnosed him with lymes disease. One morning in november, my brother wasn't feeling well, so I went to school that morning alone. According to my mother, when he finally came downstairs, he reach up into the cabinet to get a bowl for serial. He blacked out, hit his head on the counter, and locked up into a seizure. The hospital FINALLY did a cat scan to find a tumor in his skull the size of a pear. It had crushed his spinal cord and squished his brain. He was taken to westchester medical center that evening. There, the #1 child brain surgeon in the region examined him and decided to do the surgery monday. He had less than 50% chances for everything, living, seeing, walking, eating, breathing. Couple hours later the surgeon brought in his A team on a saturday to conduct an emergent 18-hour surgery on my brother. He is now driving, going to college, and enjoying life. He is even starting to get his memory back for before the surgery. The best part to this story is the tumor, however. It was a slow-grow that he was probably born with. It is benign. There was so much of this tumor that was removed that the research from it has developed a cancer 'DNA marker' that aids in the detection and diagnosis of cancers. Something that was even used on my mother recently. He also has an article on him in the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital magine 'Shining Stars.'
